There are many different types of power generators that can be used for industrial, military, residential and emergency use, including gasoline, diesel, natural gas and propane. A diesel generator is the combination of a diesel engine with an electric generator, which is often called an alternator, for the purpose of generating electrical energy. While there are many different fuels that can be used, it often depends on what is available. In most cases diesel is preferable to other fuels.

There are many reasons why a diesel generator is preferable to other types of generators. Diesel generators are able to produce power while consuming much less fuel per kilowatt of electricity produced, for starters, and the power that is produced is much more efficient than the power produced by gas. In fact, power generators that use diesel are able to run two to three times longer for each gallon of fuel consumed compared to generators that use gas. They also require less maintenance, which equates to fewer man hours.

Since an electric generator that uses gasoline or natural gas will typically be designed to run for long hours it will by nature require more regular looking after. Diesel generators can also run for long hours, though, with a mechanism that works on the principle of direct injection without any need for spark plugs. This also makes them safer by reducing the fire risk, which is already reduced because diesel is less flammable than gasoline.

It’s possible to find a diesel generator for many different uses, from light residential use to heavy industrial use. The home versions are typically designed in the range of 4 KW to 15 KW, and the industrial versions are typically available in the range of 500 KW to 2,000 KW. The cost will depend on the power. Diesel is known as an affordable power source, though, and the fuel can be purchased at almost any gasoline station.
