You may be dating or married to a man who is not always as open or forthcoming about how much he really cares about you as you might prefer. His reasons for this could stem from one of two primary causes. It is possible, of course, that he just does not care about you as much as you would like. However, it is just as likely that something else is causing him to be distracted from your relationship. Or, he may just not be a very affectionate person on the outside but actually a teddy bear on the inside.
Not knowing whether your man really cares about you can be a very painful experience, especially if you still care about him deeply. To help reduce some of the uncertainty and doubt, here are 7 signs that he still cares about you:
1. He does one (small) nice thing for you every day
Doing nice things for his woman is a common way for a man to show his love. This might be a seemingly small thing, such as doing an extra chore or picking up a bit when things are getting messy around the house. These little extra thoughtful gestures are a sign that he cares, even if he doesn’t say it very often.
2. He asks for your opinion
If your man is like most men, he has a slightly over developed sense of pride. He doesn’t want to ask strangers for directions and doesn’t want to read instructions when putting together a piece of furniture or a new appliance. It’s not that men know it all – it’s that they want to feel like they can figure anything out if given the chance. So, if your guy ever asks for your opinion on any issue, take it as a big compliment – and a sign that he cares.
3. He shows a bit of jealousy or is turned on when other men give you attention
When other men give you attention of a sexual or flirtatious nature, how does your guy react? If he gets jealous just knowing about it, he definitely cares about you. And, even if your man gets a little bit turned on by the idea of other men showing interest in you, you are in good shape. It’s only when there is a total lack of emotion either way that you may need to conclude that he does not care enough.
4. He tries to hold your hand now and again
Does your man sometimes try to grab your hand when you are out in public together? Or, does he put his arm around you? These are signs that he cares, even if he doesn’t tell you verbally very often.
5. He makes compromises for you
Does your husband or boyfriend ever put his needs or wants behind yours just to make you happy? For example, does he ever watch the TV show you want to watch, go to the movie you prefer, or eat at the restaurant you like? Take these as very strong signs he cares.
6. He asks how you are feeling
Everyone has their ups and downs. That is how life is. When your man becomes aware that you may have had a hard day or that something is going on in your life, does he ask you about how you are feeling? This is a strong sign of his caring.
7. He is nice to your friends and family
Let’s face it: your man chose you, not your friends or family. Therefore, with some exceptions of course, in general it is not always easy to be especially close to friends and in laws; it takes a bit of effort. If your guy puts special effort into getting to know and trying to like your friends and family, don’t take that as a given. Choose to take it as a sign that he really cares.
Relationships are complex. Don’t be hard on yourself if you lack sufficient signs that he cares about you. No matter where things are now, you can draw him closer to you and fix your relationship.
